The City of Clearlake is the largest city in Lake County within
proximity to several major urban centers. Due to its lakeside
recreational activities, this area also draws a sizable vacation and
weekend population, many of whom eventually pull up stakes to make
Clearlake their full-time home.
Clear Lake, along with Blue Lakes, Lake Pillsbury,
Indian Valley Reservoir and Highland Springs Reservoir, provide ample
opportunity for fishing, boating, swimming and other water-related activities.
Museums, art galleries, casinos, several golf courses, hiking, skydiving,
gliding, bird-watching, farmer's markets, numerous festivals around the lake,
the Lake County Fair and Rodeo, the Konocti Harbor Resort and Spa's concerts and
special events; all these and many other activities provide excellent
entertainment for Lake County residents and visitors. There are thousands of acres of BLM
land within the county.
Located approximately 110 road miles from
the San Francisco Bay area, and a scenic 45 minutes north of the world
famous Napa Valley, Lake County is known as the "Bass Capital of the
West" due to the fantastic fishing in Clear Lake! Several Pro-Am Bass
tournaments are held here each year, all to great acclaim. |

There are hundreds of thousands of acres
of public lands in the County, including the Cow Mountain Wilderness
area and the Boggs Mountain Demonstration State Forest. Much of the
northern part of the county lies within the Mendocino National Forest.
Clear Lake
State Park is in Kelseyville, and Anderson Marsh State Historic Park
is south of the City of Clearlake. All this makes for excellent
hunting, hiking, camping and off-roading.
